MERLIN Project Final Conference – 27/11/2024 – Paterna, Valencia (Spain)
The MERLIN project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme, will hold its final conference on November 27, 2024, at ITENE Research Centre in Valencia, Spain. This hybrid event, titled “From Smart Collection to Innovative Valorisation”, will provide insights into the project’s results and technological advancements in the recycling of multilayer plastic packaging.
Multilayer packaging, often based on PET and polyolefins, presents significant challenges for recycling due to its complex structure. MERLIN has focused on developing cost-efficient and high-performance solutions for sorting, delaminating, and recycling this material. The final conference will serve as a platform for presenting these innovations, which aim to align with the EU’s regulatory framework on plastic waste management and support a transition towards circular economy practices.
The event will feature presentations from key project partners, including ITENE, the European Commission, and leading research institutions. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about:
- Advanced sorting and delaminating technologies for multilayer packaging.
- Innovative recycling processes and the creation of new packaging materials from recycled waste.
- Economic, environmental, and legal considerations surrounding the implementation of these solutions.
In addition, participants will be able to visit the MERLIN showroom, where the project’s technologies will be showcased.
This final event is designed for policymakers, waste management professionals, packaging manufacturers, and researchers involved in plastic recycling and circular economy initiatives.
Registration is free and open to the public and attendees may choose to join online or in person.
