H2020 EU PROJECT Ô supports circular textile industry in Croatia to allow water and resources to be reused
The connection between Croatian companies Galeb and Particula Group
Project Ô intends to demonstrate approaches and technologies to drive an integrated and symbiotic use of water within a specific area, putting together the needs of different users and waste water producers, involving regulators, service providers, civil society, industry and agriculture. The project seeks to apply the pillars of integrated water management (IWM) as a model for “water planning” (akin to spatial planning) and demonstrate low cost, modular technologies that can be easily retrofitted into any water management infrastructure at district/plant level, hence enabling even small communities and SMEs to implement virtuous practices.
Project Ô comes in handy with Particula Group’s vision of implementing novel low cost water management solutions in small countries, and Croatia is a country with numerous small communities such as the city of Omiš. The city of Omiš tries to combine the modern tourism industry and large scale industry plants like the one in Galeb company. It is important to mention that the Galeb company textile production plant lies on the banks of Cetina river, which is recognised as Natura 2000 site and is rich with specific protected flora and fauna. So therefore the technology which will be implemented via Project Ô in the city of Omiš paves the flagship action, which can be easily replicated in the other similar small communities along the cost of Adriatic sea.
Particula Group is actively supporting Galeb company in providing evidence-based knowledge regarding the framework conditions that may hinder or facilitate the transition to a water-circular economy.
With the extensive network of contacts in the private and public sector, Particula group will act as a leverage of Project Ô developed technologies and demo sites to be implemented in other similar municipalities along the Adriatic coast. Finally, during the implementation of Project Ô, Particula group itself has acquired algae based waste water treatment technology, and will be strongly working in this sector during and after the end of the project.
